Dr. Helena Ahulu is currently the Head of Accounting Department at the fast growing University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from GIMPA, MEc and PhD in Accounting both from University of New England (UNE), Australia. She is also a member of the Institute of Professional Accountants (IPA) Australia.

Dr. Ahulu’s teaching experience, mainly in Accounting related courses at both undergraduate and post graduate levels, initially at the UNE and then at UPSA span over several years. Helena has been able to use her experience in teaching and research to provide academic and administrative leadership and mentorship for several students, academic and administrative staff of both Ghana Highway Authority and UPSA.

Her flair for research intensified when she served as a research assistant of faculty at the UNE Business School. Most of the reports were highly recognized by grant providers and citations were presented to faculty. Helena has also attended and presented papers at various conferences and currently has several publications. 

Prior to her appointment as an academic staff at the UPSA, she worked in the Audit Department of the Ghana Highway Authority for over 20 years and rose to the rank of Principal Internal Auditor. She was the first female auditor to lead a team on audit assignment at the regional offices of the Ghana Highway Authority. A duty she continued to perform to the admiration of her superiors during her stay at the Department.

Dr. Ahulu is a motivational speaker with the capacity to inspire. She is a team player and good listener with exceptional interpersonal skills. Helena has chaired several academic and administrative committees most of which were to develop new academic programs.
